Hi everyone, Colby here. It has been a pretty crazy month. We bought a new house, added to the family and had lots of fun.
Mom finally let us take some pictures of the house (well the kitchen/dining/front room), she said you have to visit to see the rest. We love our new house. It is so big and us kids each have our own room. Not that any of us sleep in our own rooms, but they are there just in case. The back yard is so big and so much fun. Feta is getting so close to catching that wabbit!! Porter and I enjoy playing tug-of-war with whatever toy is in sight.
Speaking of Porter, he is the newest addition to our family. He showed up at our house on May 24, and Mom and Dad didn’t know what to do with him. He was very sweet and seemed to really enjoy just hanging out with them. They wouldn’t let Feta and I play with him though (never play with strangers kind of thing). Mom walked him around the block, asking if anyone had seen him before, then she took him to the vet to see if he had a microchip ID in him, NOPE (P.S. please microchip your pets!!) So Mom brought him back home and her and Dad were deciding what they should do. They knew that we didn’t really need another dog (I knew that before we got Feta) but they also didn’t want to send him to the humane society. So a couple of hours of thinking about it, they both decided that he should go to the humane society. They were very sad to see him leave, and yet hoping that his owner would show up and claim him. 5 days passed, Dad had called the humane society a couple of times to see if he was still there. On Wednesday, May 28th, Dad and Mom went and adopted him. We were all very happy to have a new little brother (he is about 1 year old).
Wait, you say, Porter is not a cheese?? How did he get that name? His name originally started as Blue (blue cheese) but then people said that is not a good dog name, plus he is black, not blue. Also, the whole black and blue jokes might get a little old. So Dad and his co-workers were trying to think of a new name for him. They knew it should be a name that relates to Wisconsin, so they came up with Porter, like the beer. I guess there is also a ‘port’ wine cheese, so that is sort of close. One of Dad’s favorite beers is Black Butte Porter, which is made in Bend, Oregon (our neighboring state) and Porter does have a black butt, so it all just made sense!!
So, it has been a month of the 5 of us living in our new house, and we are all adjusting. The house is 99% unpacked and set up the way we want it, just a few more pictures to hang. Porter is slowly adjusting to our doggie routine, he is definitely still a puppy and both Feta and I get annoyed with him when he doesn’t stop being CRAZY. He learned quickly not to mess with Feta’s food and not to mess with Colby’s cuddle times. He, yes I will admit this, is a great addition to our family. Finally, I have a playmate that loves to play with me. Feta will play with me, but only when she wants to, Porter will play all the time.
HI FETA HERE!! LOOK WHAT MOM MADE ME, A TENT!!! ISN’T IT SOOOO COOL. COLBY AND PORTER WERE SO JEALOUS THAT I GOT A TENT AND THEY DIDN’T. MOM KNOWS HOW MUCH I LOVE BEING OUT ON THE DECK, AND SINCE THERE WAS NO SHADE ON IT, SHE MADE ME SOME SHADE. SHE IS A GENIUS!! I LOVE HER SO MUCH. BIG LICK TO YOU MOM.
Hi, I’m Porter. I am not too sure about this blog thing, but I’ll give it a try. Colby is letting me post pics. The first one is a calla lily plant– it huge and pretty!! Mom was fixing a flower garden the day I showed up. She tore out a water feature(second pic) and filled it in with pretty flowers and some rocks(third pic). The rocks are now going to be moved to the fire pit and in their place, other flowers. The next one is a full moon night. It was huge and bright, Mom took the pic to show Dad, since he was sleeping already.
These next pics are from Mt. St. Helen’s. Dad and Mom went up there one night, and left me and Colby and Feta at home. They got some good ones. The first one has Mt. Adams (far left side) and Mt. St. Helens in it. The next one has Mt. St. Helens with some newer trees and a dead stump. Then they got one of a elk who likes to stick his tongue out, must be related to Feta, and a black butt(tail) deer, hey I have black butt too. The last one, which is very bad quality, is of a porcupine. Dad and Mom were on super look out, since it was getting dark and animals were moving everywhere. They spotted this creature and had to turn around to see what it was, since it was so dark, the pictures didn’t turn out too well, but you can see the porcupine’s butt, which is full of needles, I am glad I didn’t get to meet him.
Sorry it took so long to write, but a lot has been going on this past month. We hope to have lots more stories of our new adventures!!
LOVE YOU ALL,
Colby, Feta and Porter
P.S. We have lots of room for guests, we will even give up our rooms so you can stay in there!! 🙂
